Fees

We are in receipt of Nursery Education Funding for three and four year olds; where funding is not received, then fees apply. The fees are set by the Committee and at present are £10.35 per 3 hour session (September 2009). *Grant funded sessions are 2.5 hours, top up fees for the extra half hour is £1.70 per session. They are payable half-termly in advance but arrangements may be made with the Treasurer to pay them in instalments if necessary. Due to the constant nature of the financial commitments of the Pre-School, it is not possible to issue refunds for days off due to sickness or holidays. Cheques should be made payable to "Luckington Pre-School". Payment is due on or before the first day of the relevant half term. A 10% surcharge is payable in the event of late payment, and your child may not be admitted to Pre-School (at the Committee's discretion) until fees have been paid in full. The Pre-School has to meet its own financial obligations on time and we ask that parents help us by paying fees punctually. By accepting a place, you agree that you will give at least 8 school weeks' notice (i.e. weeks that the pre-school is open and not counting those during holiday periods) of cancellation before your child is due to start at Pre-School and at least 8 school weeks' notice is required before a child leaves the Pre-School. You accept that should you fail to comply with these notice requirements, you will forfeit your registration fee and pay the pre-school 8 weeks' fees in lieu of notice: The weeks' fees will be calculated by reference to the number of days your child was due to attend per week and the rate at which the fees were to be paid. The payment in lieu will be due from you whether or not those fees were to be paid by the Local Authority.

Policy Statements

The Pre-School's policies help us to make sure that the service provided is of high quality and that being a member of the Pre-School is an enjoyable and beneficial experience for every child and her/his parents/carers.

The staff and parents/carers of the Pre-School work together to adopt the policies and they all have the opportunity to take part in the annual review of the policies. This review helps us to make sure that the policies are enabling the Pre-School to provide a quality service for its members and the local community.

Special Needs

As part of the Pre-School's policy to make sure that its provision meets the needs of each individual child, we take account of any special needs which a child may have. The Pre-School works to the requirements of the 1993 Education Act and The Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (2000). The Pre-School's Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is Rachel Jones.

Concerns

The staff and Committee of our Pre-School are committed to providing an open, caring and happy environment for children. We believe that children and parents/carers are entitled to expect courtesy and prompt, careful attention to their needs and wishes. We welcome suggestions on how to improve our Pre-School and will give prompt and serious attention to any concerns about the running of the Pre-School. We anticipate that most concerns will be resolved quickly by an informal approach to the appropriate member of staff. If this does not achieve the desired result, we have a set of procedures for dealing with concerns. Please refer to the 'Complaints Procedure' Policy.

Starting at Luckington Pre-School

Children may start at Pre-School in the term of their third birthday. The Nursery Education Grant funds the majority of children at the Pre-School. The Pre-School holds Induction Sessions to familiarise new children and their parents with the running of the Pre-School and its daily activities. If a child is anxious or unhappy they cannot play or learn successfully.

The practices referred to above and further detailed below are designed to help the children feel safe and happy in the absence of their parents, to recognise other adults as a source of authority and help and to be able to share with their parents the new learning experiences enjoyed in the Pre-School.

To achieve this we:

  • actively encourage parents to visit the Pre-School with their children during the half-term before they are due to start
  • are as flexible as possible to meet the needs of individual families and children
  • offer support to families for as long as it takes to settle their child into the Pre-School and reassure parents whose children seem to be taking a little longer to settle
